After playing a while on Warsong (aka Langrisser) for the Genesis, I have encountered the sequel to it known as Langrisser 2. I must admit that I was pretty excited to discover this and I wanted to try out the game right away. To my disapproval, Langrisser 2 had never made it to the United States. It was only established in Japan. After a while, I managed to find a playable Langrisser 2 and from then on, I could not stop playing it. The graphics are simply anime-like which appeals to an anime fan like myself. The time and effort that the artists put into the face expressions of each character can by found when you play this game. The movements of each character moving around in a scenario are smooth and not glicthy. The strategy and time you put into the game might by long but worthwhile. You start off with a screen where you are able to hire certain type of soldiers. Once you reach a certain level, you are able to change classes where you might have the chance to obtain new, stronger types of soldiers. Its all strategy based when you reach the higher levels. You are to do whatever you can to meet the criteria of beating the game while not letting many of your heroes or your main hero die. Defeating the game will definitely put a smile on your face for a job well done. A must get for the Genesis. If you can't get the original version, I would suggest getting a rom and emulator. Thanks to Hiryuu Honyaku, the game is now translated into english which, in my mind, many people approve of. With the english translation, I believe that it will attract many new people into experimenting and become addicted to the game. Now let me recap with my reviews.
Storyline: Its mainly straightforward with a screen popping up to give you a little story of what your characters are doing and what their next mission is taken place in. During battles, conversations will come up between your characters and the enemies. This also helps with the storyline which I think is pretty effective. (9/10)
Graphics: I enjoy the graphics because of the capability of being categorized as anime. The movements of the characters and soldiers are swift and smooth. (9/10)
Music: Although there's not much variety in music, the ones that do exist are well planned out and addictive. You can actually here a women talking in one of the music which gives it a bit of uniqueness for a Genesis game. (8/10)
Replay Value: There is definitely a lot of replay value here. Think of new ways to defeat your opponents while taking full advantage of earning experience. Choose different classes for your characters and quickly adapt to certain battlefields. (10/10)
Overall: 10/10
