Bahamut Lagoon Review
Alright, there has been a high increase of popularity of the game when the english translation has been released. I must admit that the english translation is very good! Alright enough of this small talk. I'm going to get to the review of the game.
Bahamut Lagoon is a very unique Strategy/RPG game. It combines the FF3 System and graphics. That means you get to see very good artwork and the typical equip and use of items. However, the thing that separates this from some other game is the use of dragon partners to aid your characters in gameplay. You need to raise your dragon properly and you also get to breed a dragon. In my opinion, I find this highly addictive.
Storyline: There is a storyline to this and it could get quite interesting and deep in thought. The witty remarks of certain characters gives you an understanding of the characters. I found myself laughing so many times at certain comments.
Graphics: I found the graphics to be very good for the SNES. The animations for the dragon summonings and the spells is stunning. The images of the dragons transforming according to how you raised it will either make you happy or freaking out by its appearance.
Sounds: This is ok for the game. The tunes fit well with accordance to the gameplay but I didn't find myself hum the tune or anything since it wasn't that addictive but I did find the gameplay very addictive.
Gameplay: The gameplay is not very hard to figure out. If you think your characters are not strong enough for the next area, you can train in bonus areas that you could unlock as you progress through the game. You get to control your characters on the battle maps but not the dragons.
Replay Value: This part of the game is also good! You can mix characters in certain parties to strengthen your group. Certain parties would achieve stronger spells/skills. In addition you can mix up the dragons as well. With this in mind, you can also find secret characters.
Overall: I think if you haven't played the game, then you should. There is an english translation available for those of you who are not literate in the japanese language. If this game was ever released outside of Japan, then the originality would be lost due to certain things that are introduced in the game. Don't know what I am talking about? Try out the game and you will understand!
